Samsung: Turn Off the Lock Screen

Every time you wake your Samsung phone, you have to swipe past a PIN, pattern or password prompt before you reach the home screen. If you do not need that layer of protection, the lock screen still forces you through it on every wake. Removing the screen lock lets the device jump straight to the home screen instead.

Turn Off Screen Lock auf Samsung

On Samsung phones running One UI, the screen lock is the security layer that appears every time you press the power button or double-tap the display. It sits between the wake action and the home screen, and it is controlled by a dedicated screen lock type setting rather than by the display timeout.

Turning it off removes that prompt entirely. Waking the device shows the home screen right away, without asking for a Pattern, PIN, Password, fingerprint or face recognition.

Where the setting lives

Go to SettingsLock screenScreen lock type. You need to confirm your current Pattern, PIN or Password once to open this menu, then select None to remove the lock.

Keep in mind what this changes. Notification previews, widgets and quick settings on the lock screen become irrelevant once there is no lock screen to show them on. Samsung Pay, secure folder access and biometric unlock also depend on an active screen lock type, so those features stop working until you set a lock again.

If your only goal is fewer prompts rather than no security at all, a longer screen timeout or Smart Lock style trusted conditions is usually a better fix than removing the lock completely.

Frequently asked questions

No. Find My Mobile and remote lock/wipe still work without a screen lock type set, since they run through your Samsung account rather than the lock screen itself.
