Samsung: Add Emergency Medical Info to Your Profile

If first responders can't tell rescue workers about allergies, medications or blood type, critical seconds get lost during an emergency. Samsung phones let you store this medical information directly in your Contacts profile, but many users never find where to enter it. The data lives outside your regular contact card and stays visible even when the phone is locked.

Add Emergency Medical Info to Contacts auf Samsung

Samsung stores emergency medical details separately from your normal contact entries. This information sits in your own profile inside the Contacts app and can be read by anyone who picks up the phone, even without unlocking it fully, depending on the lock screen settings.

The feature exists for situations where you cannot speak for yourself. Blood type, known allergies, current medications and pre-existing conditions belong here, not in a regular contact note.

Where to add it

Open ContactsProfileMedical info. Fill in the fields that apply to you, then confirm with Add the medical info and tap Save.

Leave fields blank if they do not apply. There is no requirement to fill out every entry, and you can return anytime to update outdated details, such as a changed medication.

This is different from adding emergency contacts, which is a separate section in the same profile screen. Emergency contacts get notified; medical info is just displayed for anyone reading the profile. Set up both if you want full coverage in an emergency.

Skip this if you already manage the same information through a dedicated medical ID app that your local emergency services are trained to check instead.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, if you have enabled emergency information to show on the lock screen. Check SettingsLock screenApp shortcuts or a similar emergency contact option, since the exact label depends on your software version.
