Turn Google Location History On or Off auf Samsung
Google location history logs more than a route on a map. It records timestamps, frequently visited places, and even the likely mode of transport you used to get there.
This data feeds features like personalized map suggestions, traffic predictions, and location-based recommendations. On a Samsung phone the setting sits inside the privacy area of the system settings, separate from the general location permission toggle.
Disabling it does not turn off location access for individual apps. It only stops Google from building a long-term history tied to your account. If you only want to stop one app from tracking you, check that app's own location permission instead.
Where to find the setting
Go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Privacy ➔ Tap on Google location history ➔ Enable or disable Location History.
From there you can switch tracking off completely, or leave it on if you rely on features like Google Maps Timeline or personalized suggestions.
When to leave it enabled
If you regularly check your past routes in Google Maps or want more accurate traffic and commute predictions, keep the setting on. If privacy matters more than those conveniences, switch it off and consider deleting existing history data from your Google account settings as well.
