Samsung: Install Apps from the Google Play Store

On a Samsung phone you can install apps through the Google Play Store or through Samsung's own Galaxy Store, and it is not always obvious which one to use for a given app. The Play Store covers most mainstream apps, while some Samsung-specific tools only show up in the Galaxy Store. Picking the wrong store or getting stuck on the search results is the most common reason an install never starts.

Install an App from the Google Play Store auf Samsung

Samsung phones ship with two separate app marketplaces: the general Google Play Store and Samsung's own Galaxy Store. Most mainstream apps live in the Play Store, while the Galaxy Store focuses on Samsung-exclusive tools and personalization content. Choosing the wrong store, or mistyping a name in search, is why an install sometimes never starts.

The Play Store handles installation through its own search and account system, independent of the Galaxy Store. Once you find the correct app, the install itself runs in the background and does not need any extra confirmation on One UI.

Type the app name in the search bar, pick the correct suggestion from the list, and tap Install. The app then downloads and installs automatically, and an Open button replaces Install once it is ready.

If an app only appears in the Galaxy Store and not in the Play Store, it usually means the developer built it specifically for Samsung devices. In that case, switching stores is the correct fix rather than repeating the Play Store search.

A stuck or failing install is often caused by low storage, a paused Play Store update, or a Google account that is not fully signed in on the device rather than the app listing itself.

Frequently asked questions

Some apps are built only for the Galaxy Store or are limited to certain regions or Android versions. Check the Galaxy Store search first, and confirm the app supports your Samsung model before assuming the listing is missing.
