Change Media Volume Separately from Ringtone auf Samsung
On Samsung phones, Media volume covers every sound an app sends through the media stream. Videos on YouTube, music apps, browser playback and most in-app sound effects belong here, while calls, notifications and the ringtone each use their own separate stream.
This split explains two common complaints: lowering the ringtone never quiets a playing video, and a video app can sound loud even while calls and alerts stay muted.
To adjust Media volume directly: Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Sounds and vibration ➔ Tap on Volume ➔ Swipe left or right to adjust the Media volume.
The same screen lists separate sliders for Media, Call, Notifications, Ringtone and System. Moving only the Media slider changes app playback and leaves the rest untouched.
The physical volume buttons always follow whichever stream is active on screen. While a video plays, the buttons control Media volume automatically. With nothing playing, they usually fall back to ringtone or notification volume, which is why the same buttons seem inconsistent depending on what app is open.
If Media stays quiet after raising the slider, check whether a connected Bluetooth device or a paused app is holding the audio output. Reconnecting the device or restarting the app usually fixes that independently of this setting.
