Samsung: How to Turn Off Personalized Ads

If ads in your apps feel oddly specific to sites you visited or things you searched, Google's Advertising ID is behind it. This ID lets ad networks build a profile from your app and browsing activity, then match ads to your interests across different apps and services.

Turn Off Personalized Ads on Samsung auf Samsung

Every Android phone carries a unique Advertising ID assigned by Google. Ad networks and apps use this ID to build a profile from the pages you visit and the apps you open, then serve ads that match those interests.

Samsung lets you switch this profile off directly in the privacy settings, without going through every app one by one. Once disabled, ad networks can still display ads, but they lose the personalization layer built from your Advertising ID.

Where to find the setting

Open SettingsPrivacyAdsEnable or disable Opt out of Ads Personalization. Toggle it on to opt out, or switch it off again if you want personalized ads back.

Turning this off does not block ads entirely and does not stop tracking that individual apps run through their own logins or analytics tools. It only stops Google from sharing your Advertising ID profile with publishers and ad networks.

If you also want to limit broader tracking, check Google's account-level ad settings and review each app's own privacy permissions. Resetting the Advertising ID later, where that option exists, does not undo the opt-out; it only assigns a new anonymous identifier.

Frequently asked questions

No. The number of ads stays roughly the same, but they become generic instead of matched to your browsing or app activity.
