Restore a Local Backup auf Samsung
Samsung stores local backups as standalone files, so they are never tied to a Samsung account or a single device. That is why a factory reset or a switch to a new phone does not automatically bring back data saved on a memory card, USB stick or external hard drive. The restore only happens once you point the system to that storage medium directly.
The relevant function sits inside the backup settings, separate from Samsung Cloud. If you expect Cloud data to reappear on its own but your backup was saved locally, nothing loads until you run the manual restore below.
Restore path
Go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Accounts and backup ➔ Tap on External storage transfer. Connect the memory card, USB stick or drive that holds the backup, then use Choose a Backup to see the available files. Pick the one you need, then use Select the Data and tap Restore to bring contacts, messages, settings or media back onto the phone.
Keep the storage medium connected until the transfer finishes. Restoring adds the backed-up data to what is already on the device rather than wiping current content, but matching items such as duplicate contacts can end up doubled. If the backup was made on a much older Samsung device, some app-specific data may not carry over depending on what that app supports.
