Set Up Mobile Hotspot with a Custom Name and Password auf Samsung
When you activate the mobile hotspot for the first time, Samsung One UI fills in default values automatically. The network name matches your device name, and the password is generated randomly by the system.
This default setup gets your hotspot online right away, but it is not ideal for sharing with other people. A device name as network name can expose which phone you use, and remembering a random password is annoying to read out loud.
To change both values, go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Connections ➔ Tap on Mobile Hotspot and Tethering ➔ Tap on Mobile Hotspot ➔ Tap on Configure. Here you can enter a custom network name and set your own password, then confirm with Set up the Mobile Hotspot and tap Save.
The new settings apply immediately and stay saved until you change them again, even after the hotspot is turned off and back on. If other devices were already connected under the old credentials, they need to reconnect using the updated name and password.
Use this setup whenever you plan to share your hotspot regularly, for example with family members or on a laptop you use daily. For a one-time connection, the default credentials shown on the hotspot screen are usually fast enough.
