Turn Silent Mode On or Off auf Samsung
Samsung phones give you three separate ways to quiet the device: the classic Silent mode, Do Not Disturb, and Mute all sounds. They look similar but work on different levels, which is why sound settings often feel unpredictable.
Silent mode is the quickest option. It mutes ringtones and notification sounds but usually leaves media volume and alarms untouched, depending on your settings. Do Not Disturb works on a schedule or manual toggle and can still allow exceptions like starred contacts or repeated calls. Mute all sounds is the strictest setting, it silences almost everything on the device, including system sounds, and is meant for situations where you need complete silence rather than a quick mute.
To switch the normal Silent mode on or off, go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Sounds and vibration ➔ Choose Sound, Vibrate or Mute. Selecting Vibrate keeps you aware of incoming calls through vibration alone, while Mute removes sound but usually keeps vibration and visual alerts active.
If you only need quiet during specific hours, Do Not Disturb with a schedule is the better fit instead of manually toggling Silent mode every day. Mute all sounds should stay reserved for moments where even system sounds need to disappear, since it also affects things like screenshot sounds or keyboard clicks.
