Set Temporary Mute Duration auf Samsung
Samsung's Mute mode silences the entire device instantly, but the default duration behaves differently from a simple on/off switch. When you turn on Temporary mute without adjusting the timer, the phone stays silent for exactly one hour before sound returns on its own.
This setting lives inside the sound profile system, separate from per-app or per-contact notification controls. That is why muting a single app has no effect on it, and why a Do not disturb schedule runs on its own timeline instead of this one.
Where to change the duration
Open Settings ➔ Sounds and vibration ➔ Mute. Turn on Temporary mute, then tap Mute for. Pick 1, 2, or 3 hours, or select Custom to set the duration to the exact minute, up to 24 hours.
Use the preset hours for short meetings or quick errands. Use Custom for overnight silence or a precise cutoff, for example before a flight lands. Once the countdown reaches zero, Mute mode turns off by itself and normal sound profiles return without any further action.
If you only need to silence specific contacts or apps while still hearing everything else, a scheduled Do not disturb rule with exceptions fits better, since Temporary mute blocks all sound for the entire duration you set.
