Universal Switch replaces taps and swipes with alternative input methods. That matters when physical touch on the screen is hard to manage consistently.
The front camera drives most of the gesture options. It watches for a nod, a head turn, an open mouth, or another defined movement, then translates that pattern into a tap or a screen action. This only works reliably in decent lighting with your face clearly visible to the camera.
If camera-based gestures keep misfiring, a physical switch accessory connected via Bluetooth or a cable is usually the more stable option, since it does not depend on lighting or camera angle.
To turn it on, go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Tap on Interaction and dexterity ➔ Tap on Universal switch ➔ Tap on Next and follow the instructions on screen. The setup walks you through assigning gestures or switches to specific actions like tap, scroll, or go back.
Keep in mind that constant camera tracking can affect battery life more than standard use. If gestures feel slow to register, check that nothing blocks the front camera and that the room has even lighting.
