Xiaomi: Open New Tabs in Mi Browser

Mi Browser on Xiaomi phones keeps every open page in a separate tab, similar to a desktop browser. This lets you keep a video or article open while you look something up in a new search, instead of losing the first page when you navigate away.

The tab overview sits behind a small icon in the toolbar, which is easy to miss if you have never used it before. Tap Tap on Mi Browser ➔ Tap on Tabs ➔ Tap on Add to open a blank tab and start a new search or enter a new address.

Existing tabs stay open in the background until you close them manually or clear them from the tab overview. This is useful for comparing prices, checking multiple results from a search, or filling out a form while referencing another page.

If tabs disappear after closing the app, check whether background app restrictions in MIUI are clearing Mi Browser from memory too aggressively. That setting lives outside the browser itself, in the phone's app management options.
