Xiaomi: Add a New Page to the Home Screen

Running out of room for app icons on your Xiaomi home screen is a common problem once you install more than a handful of apps. Instead of stacking icons into folders, you can create a completely new home screen page and spread your apps across it. This works with a simple drag gesture and does not require any extra settings menu.

Add a Home Screen Page auf Xiaomi

When every home screen slot is filled, MIUI does not automatically generate more space. You have to create a new page yourself by dragging an app icon to the edge of the screen.

To do this, follow this path:

Tap and hold an appDrag the app icon to the edge of the home screenRelease the app icon to position it on the new home screen

Once you release the icon at the very edge, MIUI creates a fresh page and places the app there. You can repeat this with other apps to fill the new page, or move more apps to its edge to add further pages.

This method is useful when you want dedicated pages for specific app categories, such as games or productivity tools, instead of relying only on folders. If your goal is just to reduce clutter without adding more pages, grouping apps into a folder is usually the faster fix.

One side effect: an empty page you create by accident stays in the home screen rotation until you move all apps off it again. Keep that in mind if you are experimenting with the drag gesture.

Frequently asked questions

Move every app icon off that page. Once a page has no apps left, MIUI removes it automatically from the home screen rotation.
