Allow or Deny Picture-in-Picture Access per App auf Xiaomi
Picture-in-picture lets an app keep playing video or media in a small floating window while you use another app underneath it. Streaming apps use this to let a video keep running while you reply to a message or browse another app.
MIUI manages this behavior as a special permission, separate from an app's other permissions. By default, most apps are allowed to open this floating window, but the permission can get switched off after a system update or an app change, which makes video stop floating and instead pause or close when you leave the app.
You can check and change this per app under Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Privacy protection ➔ Tap on Special permissions ➔ Tap on Picture-in-picture ➔ Choose an app ➔ Enable or disable Allow Picture-in-picture.
Turn it off for apps that open the floating window when you don't want it, for example a video call app that keeps a small window on screen after you've ended the call. Leave it enabled for streaming or messaging apps where you rely on continuing playback or a video call while multitasking.
Disabling picture-in-picture for an app does not affect its other permissions or notifications. It only removes the floating window behavior for that specific app.
