Xiaomi: Enable Camera Quick Launch from Lock Screen

Camera Quick Launch is a lock screen shortcut built into MIUI. Once enabled, a double press of the volume down button opens the camera app directly, even while the phone is locked and the display is off.

The setting lives under the lock screen controls rather than inside the camera app itself, which is why many users never find it. To turn it on or off, go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Always-on display & Lock screen ➔ Enable or disable Launch Camera.

Enabling the shortcut is useful for street, travel or event photography, where unlocking the phone and finding the camera icon can mean missing the shot. The camera opens in a restricted mode: you can shoot photos and video, but gallery access and other apps stay locked until you enter your PIN or pattern.

Disabling it makes sense if the phone often triggers the camera by accident inside a bag or pocket, or if you prefer a completely blank lock screen with no active shortcuts. Turning the toggle off does not remove the camera app or change any other camera settings, it only disables the volume button gesture on the lock screen.
