Turn Camera Shutter Sound On or Off auf Xiaomi
The camera shutter sound on Xiaomi phones is controlled inside the camera app, separately from your system ringtone and media volume. Muting your phone or switching to silent mode does not affect it, because the sound is tied to a dedicated setting in the camera menu.
This matters in situations like meetings, museums, or quiet public spaces, where a loud shutter click draws attention. It also matters for focus and screenshot sounds, which some MIUI versions bundle together with the shutter tone under the same toggle.
Where to find the setting
Open the setting through: Tap on Camera ➔ Open the Menu ➔ Tap on Settings ➔ Enable or disable Shutter sound.
Toggling this switch off removes the shutter click for photos taken through the stock camera app. If you still hear a sound after disabling it, check whether your system sound effects or a third-party camera app are producing it instead, since those run independently from this MIUI setting.
If the shutter sound comes back after a software update, revisit the same menu path and confirm the toggle position, since some updates reset camera preferences to default.
