Switch Between Navigation Buttons and Gestures auf Xiaomi
MIUI offers two ways to move around the interface: three on-screen buttons or full-screen swipe gestures. The active mode decides whether App Toggle, Home, and Back appear as fixed buttons at the bottom of the screen, or whether you control the phone with swipes from the edges.
To switch between the two, open Settings ➔ Home screen ➔ System navigation and choose Buttons or Gestures. The change applies immediately across the whole system, including third-party apps.
With gestures enabled, swipe up from the bottom edge to go home, swipe up and hold to open recent apps, and swipe in from the left or right edge to go back. With buttons enabled, the same actions map to fixed on-screen icons instead.
Switching modes helps when gestures interfere with games or drawing apps that rely on edge swipes, or when buttons take up too much space during full-screen video. If gestures feel unreliable near the edges, buttons are the more predictable fallback.
