Turn On/Off Chat Features (RCS) in Messages auf Xiaomi
Chat features run on RCS, a messaging standard that adds read receipts, typing indicators, higher-quality media, and group chat tools on top of regular SMS. On a Xiaomi phone this option lives inside the Messages app, not in the system settings, because it depends on your Google account and your carrier's network support.
When your provider supports RCS, the toggle usually switches on by itself the first time you open Messages after setup. If it stays off, messages fall back to plain SMS or MMS, which means no delivery status, no read receipts, and lower-quality photos and videos sent between contacts.
To check or change the setting, go to Tap on Messages ➔ Open the Menu ➔ Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on General ➔ Tap on Chat features. From there you can Turn On/Off Enable chat features and adjust related options such as read receipts or the connection type used for sending.
Turn Chat features off if you want every message to stay as basic SMS, for example on a limited data plan or when troubleshooting message delivery problems. Leave it on for a closer match to messenger apps like WhatsApp, as long as the person you are texting also has it enabled.
