Xiaomi: Connect to a Wi-Fi Network

If your Xiaomi phone shows no internet access or keeps prompting for a network password, the device usually just is not linked to any Wi-Fi yet. Mobile data alone will not give you access to a home or office network, and an inactive Wi-Fi radio hides every nearby network from the list. Once Wi-Fi is switched on, both private networks with a password and open public hotspots become selectable.

Connect to a Wi-Fi Network auf Xiaomi

A Xiaomi phone without an active Wi-Fi connection cannot reach your router, even if the network is broadcasting nearby. MIUI keeps the Wi-Fi radio and the network list under one dedicated menu, separate from mobile data settings.

To connect, open Tap on SettingsTap on Wi-FiChoose a Wi-Fi networkEnter the Password and tap Connect. Private networks require the correct password before the connection is established. Public networks often connect immediately or redirect you to a login page in the browser.

When to check other settings

If the network appears but connection fails repeatedly, the password is the most common cause, followed by the router being out of range or overloaded with devices. Airplane mode enabled at the same time as Wi-Fi will also block any connection attempt, so check that toggle first if Wi-Fi seems unresponsive.

Once connected, MIUI remembers the network and password, so the phone reconnects automatically whenever it is back in range.

Frequently asked questions

Wi-Fi is likely turned off, or you are out of range of any router. Confirm Wi-Fi is active in SettingsWi-Fi and that Airplane mode is disabled.
