Xiaomi: Add a New Contact to Your Phone

Saving a new phone number on a Xiaomi device sometimes feels confusing because the Contacts app hides extra fields like birthday, address or company behind a single Add button. Many users only enter a name and number, then wonder later why the birthday never shows up in the calendar. The trick is knowing which fields to expand before you save the entry.

Add a New Contact auf Xiaomi

On Xiaomi phones, every phone number lives inside the Contacts app, which also controls what shows up during incoming calls and in Google or Mi Cloud backups. If you only fill in a name and number, fields like birthday, work location or website stay empty and never sync anywhere, including the calendar.

To add a fully detailed contact, open the app and follow this path: Tap on ContactsTap on AddEnter a NameEnter a Phone numberAdd more Contact details or tap on Save.

The Add more Contact details step is where most people stop too early. Tapping it reveals fields for email, company, address, relationship, website and memo, plus a birthday field that automatically appears in your calendar app once filled in.

If you only need a quick entry for a call, tapping Save right after the phone number is enough. Come back later through the same contact's edit screen if you want to fill in the missing details, nothing gets lost by saving early.

This process works the same whether you are on an older or newer MIUI build, since the Contacts app structure has stayed consistent across versions.
