Xiaomi: Change the Default Browser App

Android decides which app opens a link based on the default app assignment stored in the system settings. On Xiaomi phones this assignment is usually created the first time you tap a link and confirm a browser choice, or automatically when Mi Browser is set as default during initial setup.

Once a default browser is active, every link from messaging apps, email, or other apps opens directly in that browser without asking again. If you install a new browser from the Play Store and links still open in the old one, the previous default is still stored in the system and has to be changed manually.

To change it, open Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Apps ➔ Tap on Manage apps, then open the Open the Menu and tap Tap on Default apps ➔ Tap on Browser. Select the browser you want to use and confirm it as the new default with Set the default browser app.

This setting only controls which app opens links automatically. It does not delete other browsers, their bookmarks, or their history, and you can switch back to any installed browser through the same menu at any time.
