Set Up Face Unlock auf Xiaomi
Face Unlock on Xiaomi relies on a 2D scan captured by the front camera, not a depth sensor. That is why MIUI shows a warning before setup: a printed photo, a video, or a person with similar facial features can sometimes pass the check. This makes Face Unlock faster than typing a PIN, but weaker than fingerprint or pattern for anyone who needs strong protection against targeted unauthorized access.
To register your face, open Settings ➔ Passwords & security ➔ Face unlock. MIUI asks you to confirm your current Pattern, PIN, or Password first, since that credential still works as a fallback whenever the camera fails to recognize you. Tap Next and follow the on-screen guide to position your face inside the frame.
Once the scan is stored, you can choose whether Face Unlock also confirms app locks or payments, depending on what MIUI offers on your device. If you share your phone, work in low light often, or wear glasses and masks that change your appearance, fingerprint unlock or a pattern usually gives more reliable and more secure results.
