Xiaomi: Turn the Flashlight On or Off

Need to switch on the LED flash on the back of your Xiaomi phone without opening the camera app? The flashlight toggle sits in the quick settings panel, but if you rarely use it the icon is easy to overlook. An unresponsive toggle usually points to a Control center layout change, not a broken LED.

Turn Flashlight On or Off auf Xiaomi

The LED flash on the back of your Xiaomi phone doubles as a flashlight, but it is not controlled from the camera app. It sits inside the quick settings, which MIUI calls the Control center.

To turn it on or off, use this path:

Swipe downwards to open the Control centerTurn On/Off Flashlight

Swiping from the top-right corner (or the top edge on some models) opens this panel. The flashlight icon looks like a torch and toggles the LED instantly, without launching any app in the background.

If tapping the icon does nothing, the LED itself might be blocked by a case or the phone could be in a low-battery power-saving state that disables it. Restarting the device usually clears a stuck toggle state.

Using the flashlight this way is preferable to opening a third-party flashlight app, since it avoids extra permissions and battery drain from an app running in the background.

Frequently asked questions

A grayed-out icon usually means the battery is critically low and MIUI has disabled the LED to save power. Charge the phone and check Swipe downwards to open the Control centerTurn On/Off Flashlight again.
