Turn Glide Typing On or Off auf Xiaomi
Glide typing is part of the stock MIUI keyboard, not a separate app. When it is active, you slide your finger from letter to letter instead of tapping each key, and the keyboard predicts the word from the shape of the swipe.
The setting sits inside the general keyboard management area, not inside the keyboard app itself, which is why many users cannot find it. Auto-correction, word suggestions, and the dictionary work independently, so switching Glide typing off will not affect those functions.
To turn it on or off:
Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap on Languages & input ➔ Tap on Manage keyboards ➔ Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Glide typing ➔ Enable or disable Glide typing
Inside the same screen you also find related options like Show gesture trail, which draws a visible line while you swipe, and a toggle to enable gesture sounds. Turn off the gesture trail if the moving line distracts you, but keep Glide typing itself enabled if you still want to swipe words.
If your keyboard reacts slowly or swipes are ignored, closing and reopening the keyboard settings after a system update usually resolves the issue, since keyboard preferences can reset during larger MIUI updates.
