Hide or Show the Notch auf Xiaomi
On Xiaomi phones with a camera cutout, some apps render their interface directly behind the Notch instead of leaving that area black. This happens because the display defaults to full-screen mode, so status bar icons, game HUDs or video content can get clipped by the cutout.
MIUI controls this behavior through a dedicated display option rather than a per-app setting. Changing it switches how the system reserves space around the front camera for every app at once.
Where to find the Notch setting
Go to Settings ➕ Notifications & Control center ➕ Status bar ➕ Hide notch ➕ Choose an option. Depending on the option you pick, the system either draws a black bar around the cutout or allows content to fill the entire screen width.
Hiding the Notch is the better fix when status bar icons get cropped or when a specific app visibly overlaps the camera area. If a single app still misbehaves after changing this setting, check that app's own display or fullscreen option first, since some apps manage the cutout independently of the system setting.
There is no measurable battery or performance impact either way, since this only changes how pixels near the cutout are rendered.
