Xiaomi: Enable High Contrast Text for Sharper Reading

Thin system fonts in MIUI can be hard to read against busy wallpapers or in strong light. The High contrast text option in the accessibility menu adds a bold black outline around every character, which raises the contrast between text and background without touching your color theme.

You find the switch under Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Tap on Vision ➔ Enable or disable High contrast text. On some devices this control appears inside a section labeled Experimental, which means Xiaomi is still refining how it renders across third-party apps.

Once turned on, system menus, notifications and most stock apps show sharper edges around letters right away. Apps that draw their own custom fonts may ignore the setting, so text there can look unchanged.

If your main issue is small font size rather than low contrast, adjusting text size or display scaling under Settings ➔ Display often helps more. You can combine both settings if you need larger and higher-contrast text at the same time.

Because the feature changes how text gets drawn, some layouts in older or poorly optimized apps can shift slightly or clip long labels. Turn the option off again if a layout looks broken after enabling it.
