Xiaomi: Change the Key Long-Press Delay in the Keyboard

Every key on the Xiaomi keyboard reacts to a long press by showing an alternate character or symbol. MIUI sets this reaction time to exactly 300ms by default, which is fast enough for most people but can feel off if you type quickly or tend to rest your finger on a key.

The setting sits inside the keyboard preferences, not in the general typing settings, which is why many users never find it. You can lower it to 100ms for near-instant symbol input, or raise it up to 700ms if you often trigger symbols by accident while typing normally.

To change it, follow this path:

Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap on Languages & input ➔ Tap on Manage keyboards ➔ Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Preferences ➔ Tap on Key long press delay ➔ Set the Key long press delay and tap OK

The value applies to the keyboard you configured it in. If you switch between multiple keyboard apps, each one keeps its own delay setting.
