Xiaomi: Adjust Keyboard Height in MIUI

If the on-screen keyboard on your Xiaomi phone feels cramped for typing or covers too much of the screen, the Keyboard height setting is usually the cause. MIUI offers seven size presets from extra short to extra tall, and picking the wrong one makes typos more likely or blocks content you need to see while typing.

Change Keyboard Height auf Xiaomi

The stock keyboard on Xiaomi phones uses a fixed height by default, which does not fit every hand size or screen resolution. If keys feel too close together or the keyboard blocks too much of the app above it, the fix is a dedicated size setting inside the keyboard preferences, not a system-wide display setting.

Open Tap on SettingsTap on Additional settingsTap on Languages & inputTap on Manage keyboardsTap on SettingsTap on PreferencesTap on Keyboard heightChoose an option. MIUI shows seven presets from extra short to extra tall, plus a slider on most versions for fine control between the fixed steps.

A taller keyboard gives larger key targets and fewer mistyped letters, but it hides more of the app content, which matters in chat apps or forms with several fields. A shorter keyboard keeps more content visible but shrinks the tap area for each key.

This setting only changes the height of the built-in keyboard. If you use a third-party keyboard app, look for a similar size option inside that app instead, since MIUI's setting will not apply there.

Frequently asked questions

Some MIUI versions rename or relocate this option, and third-party keyboard apps replace it entirely. Check Tap on Manage keyboards to confirm the built-in MIUI keyboard is still your active input method.
