Xiaomi: Enable or Disable LED Notification Light

If your Xiaomi phone stays dark when a new message arrives, the LED notification light might be switched off for that app. This setting works per app, so one app can flash the LED while another stays silent. Not every Xiaomi model has a physical LED, so the option may be missing entirely on some devices.

Enable or Disable LED Notification Light auf Xiaomi

The LED notification light on Xiaomi phones sits near the earpiece or in a corner of the display. MIUI lets you control it per app, so you decide which apps trigger a visual alert and which stay silent.

To change it, open Settings ➔ tap on Notifications ➔ choose an app ➔ enable or disable Allow using LED light. Repeat this for every app you want to include or exclude.

If the toggle is missing entirely, your device does not have a physical notification LED. Some Xiaomi models rely only on the always-on display for alerts, and that feature is not controlled through this menu.

Turning the LED off can slightly reduce battery drain and cuts visual distraction on a nightstand at night. It also means you will miss silent alerts unless the screen is active or you check the notification panel yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Some apps send low-priority or silent notifications that skip the LED entirely, and an active Do Not Disturb or Focus mode can suppress it even when the per-app toggle is on.
