Xiaomi: Show Memory Status in Recent Apps

When you swipe up to check recent apps on a Xiaomi phone, the memory bar at the top sometimes just isn't there, leaving you without a quick read on free RAM. This indicator only reports live usage and does not close or manage background apps on its own. Without it turned on, you lose a fast way to judge whether your phone is actually running low on memory.

Show Memory Status in Recent Apps auf Xiaomi

The memory bar above your recent apps shows how much RAM is currently in use and how much is still free. It updates live as you open and close apps, but it does not stop or close anything running in the background by itself. It is purely a readout, not a cleanup tool.

By default this indicator can be hidden depending on your device setup, which makes it harder to spot when memory is getting tight before an app slows down or restarts unexpectedly. Turning it on gives you a quick visual reference every time you open the app switcher, without installing a separate memory monitor.

Where to enable it

Go to Tap on SettingsTap on Home screenEnable or disable Show memory status. Once enabled, the bar appears automatically at the top of the recent apps screen.

If your phone still feels slow with the indicator on, the cause usually sits elsewhere, such as too many auto-start apps or a full storage drive. In that case, checking storage and app permissions brings more improvement than watching the memory bar alone.

Frequently asked questions

No. It only displays how much RAM is used and free. Closing apps still requires swiping them away manually or using the recent apps clear option.
