Xiaomi: Turn Next-Word Suggestions On or Off

If the keyboard stops predicting the next word while you type a message or email, MIUI's text correction settings are usually behind it. Next-word suggestions guess the word that fits your sentence based on context, not just the letters you already typed. Switching the feature on or off changes how fast you can write and how often the keyboard guesses wrong.

Turn On/Off Next-Word Suggestions auf Xiaomi

Next-word suggestions is a text correction function built into the MIUI keyboard. It predicts the word that likely follows the one you just typed, based on sentence context rather than only the letters entered so far. When active, a tap on the suggestion bar inserts the predicted word instead of you typing it out.

This function sits inside the keyboard's correction engine, separate from basic autocorrect and emoji suggestions. If predictions feel wrong, slow, or distracting, turning the feature off stops MIUI from analyzing sentence context, while spelling correction keeps working as before.

To change the setting, open Tap on SettingsTap on Additional settingsTap on Languages & inputTap on Manage keyboardsTap on SettingsTap on Text correctionEnable or disable Next-word suggestions.

Disabling it makes sense if predictions repeatedly suggest the wrong word for technical terms, names, or a second language you type often. Keep it enabled if you mostly write everyday messages, since it usually speeds up typing once the keyboard learns your habits. Turning it off does not affect autocorrect, emoji predictions, or the keyboard dictionary.

Frequently asked questions

Next-word suggestions relies on common sentence patterns, so uncommon phrasing, technical terms, or mixed languages often produce mismatched predictions. Turning the option off in Text correction stops these guesses without disabling spelling correction.
