Xiaomi: Forget a Saved Wi-Fi Network

If your phone keeps reconnecting to a slow or wrong Wi-Fi network instead of your home connection, an outdated saved entry is usually the cause. This often happens after a router password change or when two networks share the same name. Removing the old entry forces your Xiaomi phone to ask for the current password the next time it connects.

Forget Saved Wi-Fi Networks auf Xiaomi

Wi-Fi settings on your Xiaomi phone store every network you have ever joined, together with its password and connection priority. Over time this list fills up with outdated entries: old routers, previous apartments, or a home network whose password changed after a router reset.

MIUI keeps trying the saved entry first, even after the password changes, so you get stuck with a connection that fails silently instead of a fresh login prompt. Deleting the outdated entry clears the stored credentials and connection priority, so your phone treats the network as new the next time it is in range.

To remove a saved network, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Wi-FiTap on Additional settingsTap on Manage saved networksChoose a Wi-Fi networkTap on Forget network.

After confirming, the network disappears from your saved list. Reconnect by selecting it among the available networks and entering the current password. This also helps when two networks share the same name but different passwords, a common issue with dual-band routers broadcasting an identical name for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.

If you only want your phone to stop auto-joining a network without losing the password, look for an auto-join option in that network's settings instead. If your connection drops entirely rather than just being slow, this fix likely will not help — check your router or network hardware first.
