Xiaomi: Rename Face Data for Face Unlock

If you have saved more than one face profile on your Xiaomi phone, for example a regular look and one with glasses, every entry shows up under the same generic label in the Face unlock settings. Without a custom name it is hard to tell which profile matches which appearance, especially when you only want to manage or delete one of them.

Rename Face Data auf Xiaomi

Xiaomi phones let you store several face profiles for Face unlock, for instance one for your normal look and another for glasses or a beard. MIUI gives each entry a generic label such as 'Face data 1', which makes it hard to tell which profile belongs to which appearance once more than one is saved.

Renaming a face profile does not change how Face unlock recognizes you. It only updates the label shown in the security settings, so you can identify and manage each entry correctly, especially before deleting one of them.

How to rename a face profile

Open SettingsPasswords & securityFace unlock. Confirm your identity by entering your current Pattern, PIN or Password.

Select the Face data entry you want to edit, enter a new name and tap Save.

If the Face unlock entry is missing, your device might not support face recognition, or no face profile has been set up yet. Set up a face profile first before trying to rename it.

Frequently asked questions

No. The name is only a label shown in the settings list. The underlying scan data used for recognition stays the same, so unlocking your phone works exactly as before.
