Restart the Xiaomi Smartphone auf Xiaomi
A restart on a Xiaomi phone closes every running app, halts pending installation processes, and clears part of the temporary cache MIUI has built up. This gives the system a clean start without touching your photos, apps, or settings.
Restarting is different from a full shutdown. Shutting down cuts power completely, while a restart lets MIUI close background services in an orderly way before booting again. This is usually enough to fix a laggy interface, apps that crash repeatedly, or a phone that overheats after heavy use.
How to restart
Use the Power button to trigger the reboot menu:
Tap and hold the Power button ➔ Tap on Reboot ➔ Tap to Reboot
The screen goes dark for a few seconds, the Xiaomi logo appears, and the phone boots back into MIUI. All apps you had open will need to be reopened manually.
If the touchscreen is unresponsive and you cannot reach this menu, a forced restart by holding the Power button down for several seconds is the fallback option. That should only be used when the phone is completely frozen, since it skips the normal shutdown process for open apps.
