Xiaomi: Send Photos and Videos via Bluetooth

Sending a photo or video from your Xiaomi phone to a paired device sometimes stalls right after you tap Share, or the target device never shows up in the list. This usually comes down to picking the wrong sharing option or Bluetooth pairing not being active. The steps below use MIUI's file sharing menu, which works the same for pictures, videos and most other file types.

Send Photos and Videos via Bluetooth auf Xiaomi

Bluetooth transfer on Xiaomi phones fails most often because the file was opened in the wrong app, or the sharing menu offered was for a different service such as cloud storage instead of Bluetooth.

The transfer itself runs through the Gallery or File Manager app, not through Bluetooth settings directly. You pick the file first, then choose the sharing method from the system share sheet that MIUI generates for that file type.

The verified path is: Choose a fileTap on ShareTap on BluetoothChoose an available Bluetooth device to send the file.

Before starting, make sure Bluetooth is turned on and the receiving device is discoverable. If the target device does not appear in the list after tapping Bluetooth, it either has Bluetooth disabled, is out of range, or is not currently in pairing mode.

This method works for a single photo just as well as for videos or documents opened from File Manager. For sending many files at once, select multiple items in Gallery before tapping Share, then follow the same Bluetooth step.

If the file transfer starts but never finishes, try moving both devices closer together or restarting Bluetooth on the receiving device.

Frequently asked questions

The receiving device is likely not in pairing or discoverable mode, or its Bluetooth is turned off. Check the target device settings, then tap Bluetooth again from the share menu to refresh the list.
