Xiaomi: Change Contact Name Display Order

If your Xiaomi contact list always shows the first name before the last name, finding people gets harder when you organize contacts by family name or your workplace expects last-name-first lists. This affects how names appear in Contacts, the call log, and message threads alike. MIUI lets you flip that order without editing a single contact.

Switch Contact Name Order (First/Last Name) auf Xiaomi

Xiaomi phones show first name before last name by default, and this order carries over into Contacts, the call log, and message threads. If you sort contacts by family name at work or just prefer a different layout, this default gets in the way every time you search.

MIUI stores this preference as a global app setting, not inside each contact entry. Switching it applies instantly to every saved contact, since the app only re-renders the existing first and last name fields in a new order.

Switch the name order

Open ContactsOpen the MenuSettingsName format, then choose First name first or Last name first.

This setting only changes how names display, not what is stored, so imported contacts keep their original first and last name fields untouched. If you rely on a synced Google Contacts app instead of the built-in one, check that app's own display option too, since the MIUI setting only controls the native Contacts app.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The Name format setting under ContactsSettings applies across Contacts, the call log, and message threads, since they all pull names from the same contact database.
