Xiaomi: Set a Custom Start Page in Mi Browser

Every time you open Mi Browser on your Xiaomi phone, the same default home screen with shortcuts and preset services loads instead of a search engine you actually use. This happens because the start page setting is locked to the built-in default and has not been switched to a custom web address. You can point it to Google, Bing or any other site you prefer.

Set a Custom Start Page in Mi Browser auf Xiaomi

By default, Mi Browser on Xiaomi phones opens a fixed home page filled with app shortcuts, news widgets and preset services. This behavior comes from the browser's own start page setting, not from a general Android or MIUI system option, so changing it only affects Mi Browser and no other app.

To switch this, open Mi BrowserProfileSettingsAdvancedSet start pageCustom. Enter the web address of the page you want, for example a search engine like Google or Bing, then confirm with OK.

Once set, Mi Browser loads that address every time you open a new tab or launch the app, replacing the default shortcut grid entirely.

If you only want a different search engine for typed queries rather than a new home page, changing the default search engine in the same Settings menu is the better fix, since it leaves the start page untouched.

A custom start page has no effect on saved bookmarks, browsing history or other apps. It only changes what loads first when Mi Browser starts.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The start page and the default search engine are separate settings inside Mi BrowserProfileSettingsAdvanced. You can set a custom start page and keep the original search engine, or the other way around.
