Xiaomi: Show Emojis in the Symbols Keyboard

On Xiaomi phones the symbols keyboard can display your most recently used emojis for quicker access, but that suggestion strip stays hidden by default. The Mi keyboard needs this behavior turned on separately before recent emojis appear next to the symbols and numbers.

Show Emojis in the Symbols Keyboard auf Xiaomi

The Mi keyboard on Xiaomi phones can show your most recently used emojis right inside the symbols keyboard, but this suggestion strip stays hidden until you switch it on manually.

The toggle lives inside the keyboard preferences rather than the general language menu, which is why many users miss it. Without the option enabled, tapping the symbols key only shows numbers and punctuation, so you have to switch back to the emoji tab every time you need a face or icon.

To enable it, open SettingsAdditional settingsLanguages & inputManage keyboardsSettingsPreferences and turn on Show emojis in symbols keyboard.

Once active, the symbols keyboard keeps a short row of recently used emojis visible, so frequent ones stay one tap away instead of buried in the full emoji tab.

If you use a third-party keyboard app instead of the Mi keyboard, this setting has no effect, since each keyboard app manages its own emoji suggestions independently.

Frequently asked questions

MIUI groups keyboard-specific behavior inside the Mi keyboard's own preferences. You reach it through Manage keyboardsSettingsPreferences rather than the general Languages & input screen.
