Show or Hide Password Characters While Typing auf Xiaomi
On MIUI, the Show passwords setting flashes each typed character for a split second before masking it with a dot. This brief preview helps you catch typos in long or complex passwords, but it also means anyone standing close enough can read the character the moment it appears.
The setting sits inside the security section of MIUI, separate from your lock screen PIN, pattern, or biometric unlock. Disabling it hides every character immediately and shows only dots as you type. Re-enabling it restores the short flash for each keystroke.
How to change it
Open Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Passwords & security ➔ Tap on Privacy ➔ Enable or disable Show passwords. Turning the toggle off masks future password input across apps and fields that rely on the system keyboard.
Leave the setting on if you always type in private and want a quick visual check on what you entered. Turn it off before logging in on public transport, during screen shares, or whenever someone else can see your display. The change applies system-wide and has no effect on fingerprint or face unlock.
