Turn Speak Passwords On or Off for TalkBack auf Xiaomi
When TalkBack is active, it normally reads each character aloud as you type, including inside password fields. That behavior comes from a dedicated option called Speak passwords, which sits inside the TalkBack settings on your Xiaomi phone. Turning it off keeps entered characters silent while every other TalkBack function keeps working as before.
The setting matters most in public places. If someone stands close enough to hear your phone, an audible password readout can expose your login data during a call, meeting, or on public transport. Keeping it enabled only makes sense when you type in private and rely on the audio feedback to catch typos.
Where to find Speak passwords
Open Settings ➔ Additional settings ➔ Accessibility ➔ Vision ➔ TalkBack ➔ Settings, then enable or disable Speak passwords.
If you disable it, TalkBack still announces field labels, keyboard keys, and confirmation messages elsewhere in the interface. Only the actual password characters stay silent. Re-enabling the option later follows the identical path, so switching back and forth is quick whenever your surroundings change.
