Turn On/Off Switch to Speaker Automatically auf Xiaomi
Switch to speaker automatically is an accessibility feature on Xiaomi phones running MIUI. It detects when you move the phone away from your ear during a call and switches the audio output to the speaker without any manual tap.
This function only works together with TalkBack. If TalkBack is off, the toggle has no effect even when it appears enabled, because the sensor logic behind it depends on TalkBack's motion and screen-reader services.
You will find the setting inside the accessibility vision options, not in the general call settings, which is why it is easy to overlook.
To turn it on or off:
Settings ➔ Additional settings ➔ Accessibility ➔ Vision ➔ Switch to speaker automatically
Inside the Vision section, this option is often grouped under a heading called Experimental. That label means MIUI still treats the behavior as unstable, so results can vary between devices and firmware builds.
If you rely on this feature for hands-free calls but it stays inactive, check that TalkBack itself is switched on first. Turning off TalkBack afterward can also disable this speaker behavior again, even if the toggle still shows as active.
If you only want the speaker on for specific apps or calls, a manual tap on the speaker icon during the call remains more reliable than this automatic detection.
