Xiaomi: Turn Tap Sounds On or Off

Every tap on a button, the Back key, or a menu item triggers a short click sound on your Xiaomi phone. If that noise gets distracting during calls, meetings, or at night, the Tap sounds setting is behind it and can be switched off just as quickly as it can be turned back on.

Turn Tap Sounds On or Off auf Xiaomi

Tap sounds are the short click confirmations MIUI plays when you touch buttons, the Back key, or items in a menu. They exist to give feedback that a tap registered, but many users find them unnecessary once they know their phone's layout.

The setting lives in the sound options, separate from ringtone or notification volume, which is why muting your phone does not always silence these clicks. To change it, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Sound & vibrationTap on Additional settingsEnable or disable Tap sounds.

This toggle affects only the interaction clicks, not keyboard sounds, call ringtones, or notification alerts. Those are controlled by separate switches in the same sound menu or inside the keyboard app itself.

Turning tap sounds off does not disable haptic feedback (vibration on tap), so you can still get tactile confirmation without the audio. If you want complete silence during meetings, combine this with your phone's silent or Do Not Disturb mode, since that setting alone won't stop system click sounds triggered by touch.

Frequently asked questions

No. Keyboard sounds are managed separately, usually inside your keyboard app's own settings, not through Additional settings in the sound menu.
