Turn On/Off Traffic Mode auf Xiaomi
Traffic mode is part of the Wi-Fi assistant in MIUI. It decides how your phone splits available bandwidth between the app you are currently using and anything downloading in the background, such as cloud backups or app updates.
When Traffic mode is off, all connections share the network equally. That can cause stutter in video calls or buffering in streaming apps while something else downloads quietly in the background.
Regular mode vs. Extreme mode
Once you enable Traffic mode, you can pick between two intelligent settings. Regular mode still lets background downloads run, but gives the foreground app a share of the network so it stays smooth. Extreme mode goes further and holds back background traffic almost completely, giving the app in use full priority. This helps with gaming or calls on a weaker connection, but large downloads or backups can take much longer or stall until you switch back.
To change the setting, go to Settings ➔ Wi-Fi ➔ Wi-Fi assistant ➔ Traffic mode, then enable or disable it and choose Regular mode or Extreme mode.
If one specific app is the problem rather than general bandwidth sharing, check that app's own background data or network permissions instead of relying on Traffic mode.
