Turn Off the Phone Completely auf Xiaomi
A full power off cuts all power to the device, unlike a restart or simply locking the screen with the Power button.
This matters when the phone freezes, when you plan to store it for a while, or when you need to conserve battery during travel. A restart reboots the system but keeps background processes cycling, while a full shutdown stops everything until you press the Power button again.
To turn off the phone: Press and hold the Power button ➔ Tap on Power off ➔ Tap to Power off.
If the screen does not respond to a long press, the display driver might be stuck. A forced restart, holding Power and Volume Up together, is often the better fix in that case, not a full shutdown.
After power off, the phone stops receiving calls, notifications, and location updates until you turn it back on. Use it deliberately when you expect to be reachable.
