Add Update Shortcut to Home Screen auf Xiaomi
On Xiaomi phones, the update check sits several taps deep inside the system settings. Most people never enable the shortcut option that puts it on the home screen instead.
The shortcut is controlled by MIUI's update settings menu, not by a separate app or launcher feature. Once enabled, a new icon appears on your home screen that opens the update check directly, without passing through Settings first.
How the shortcut works
Follow this path: Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on About phone ➔ Tap on MIUI version ➔ Open the Menu ➔ Tap on Update settings ➔ Enable or disable Add Home screen shortcut. Toggling the option on drops the icon onto your home screen immediately, no restart needed.
If you disable the toggle later, the shortcut disappears from the home screen automatically. You do not need to manually remove or long-press the icon.
This shortcut only checks for MIUI system updates. It does not manage app updates from Google Play or the Xiaomi app store, so keep using those apps separately for individual app updates.
If your home screen is already crowded, consider placing the shortcut in an app folder or on a secondary screen instead of disabling it entirely. That way it stays one tap closer than the settings menu, without cluttering your main screen.
