Set Up a VPN Connection auf Xiaomi
A VPN on your Xiaomi phone encrypts your internet traffic and routes it through a server you choose, which is why it helps against network-level blocking and tracking on open Wi-Fi. MIUI ships with a built-in VPN client, but it stays empty until you add a profile with the correct server data yourself.
To add one, go to Settings ➔ Connection & sharing ➔ VPN ➔ Add VPN, then enter the corresponding data and tap Save. You need the server address, VPN type, and your login credentials from the provider or your company IT department beforehand, since MIUI does not fetch these automatically.
Once saved, the profile appears in the VPN list and you can connect with a single tap. If the connection drops after a restart or when you switch networks, check the profile again under the same menu path, since some server types require re-entering a key or certificate.
A VPN is the wrong fix if you only need faster local speeds or better GPS accuracy, since it adds routing overhead and can slow down streaming. It is the right fix when you need to reach a blocked resource or keep traffic private on a network you do not control.
