Android: Enable the Accessibility Menu Shortcut

If you use your phone one-handed or have trouble reaching the physical buttons, the Accessibility menu shortcut can help. Without it turned on, you have to open Settings every time you want to lock the screen, change volume, or jump to recent apps. Once active, a small floating button expands into a larger panel with those controls.

Turn On/Off the Accessibility Menu Shortcut auf Android

Reaching the power button or volume keys is not always easy, especially if you hold your phone one-handed or deal with limited mobility. The Accessibility menu shortcut solves this by placing a floating button on screen that opens a larger panel with the most common system controls.

To turn the shortcut on, follow Tap on SettingsTap on AccessibilityTap on Accessibility MenuEnable or disable Accessibility Menu shortcutTap on Allow. After you allow it, a round icon shows up in the corner of your display.

Tapping that icon opens a panel with Assistant, Accessibility Settings, Power On/Off, volume up/down, and Recent apps. Each entry works the same way as the matching hardware button or gesture, which is useful when a button is stiff, broken, or simply out of reach.

Turning the shortcut back off uses the same path; just switch the toggle off instead of tapping Allow at the last step. If the floating button covers part of a video or game, drag it to a quieter spot along the edge of the screen.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Long-press the floating icon and drag it along any edge of the screen to a position that does not block what you are viewing.
