Android: Enable or Disable Offensive Word Blocking in Gboard

Gboard filters offensive words out of its suggestion bar by default. This filter works separately from autocorrect and only affects which words get suggested while you type, not which words you can actually enter.

The setting lives inside the keyboard's text correction options, not in the general system settings for language or input. That is why it is easy to overlook when troubleshooting suggestion behavior after a system update or a keyboard reset.

To change it, follow this path: Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on System ➔ Tap on Keyboard ➔ Tap on On-screen keyboard ➔ Tap on Gboard ➔ Tap on Text correction ➔ Enable or disable Block Offensive words.

Disabling the toggle lets profanity and slang appear in the word suggestion row, which is useful if you write scripts, transcripts, or messages that need unfiltered language. Enabling it again restores the default filtering for everyday typing.

If offensive words still slip through after enabling the toggle, check whether a different keyboard app is active instead of Gboard, since each keyboard app manages its own filter independently.
