Tap to Check Phone: Turn On or Off auf Android
Tap to check phone lets you wake the display with two quick taps anywhere on the screen, without pressing the power button. The feature reads the taps through the touch controller and hands the wake signal to the lock screen manager.
What happens next depends on your screen lock. If a PIN, pattern, password, or biometric lock is active, the double tap wakes the display and shows that prompt. If the screen lock is set to None, the double tap skips the prompt entirely and lands you on the home screen.
This becomes a concern on shared devices or in public, since anyone nearby can wake and open the phone with two taps. Turning the feature off removes the double-tap shortcut, and the power button becomes the only way to wake the screen.
To toggle it, go to Settings ➔ Display ➔ Lock screen ➔ Tap to check phone, then enable or disable the option based on what you need.
If the double tap does not register at all, check whether your device or launcher moved this gesture into a separate motion settings menu, since some manufacturers place it outside the standard Display settings.
