Turn Google Voice Typing On or Off auf Android
Google Voice Typing is part of the on-screen keyboard, not a separate app, so it does not appear in the main microphone or accessibility settings. It converts speech picked up through the phone's microphone into text inside any field where the keyboard is active, from chat apps to browser search bars.
Because the toggle lives inside the keyboard menu, it is easy to overlook when the microphone icon suddenly disappears from the keyboard's top row or when voice input keeps activating without being wanted.
To change it, open Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on System ➔ Tap on Keyboard ➔ Tap on On-screen keyboard, then use Enable or disable Google Voice Typing and confirm with Tap on OK.
Enabling the option puts the microphone button back on the keyboard, ready to start listening as soon as it is tapped. Disabling it removes the button entirely and stops speech-to-text from working in any app that relies on this keyboard.
If the microphone still does not respond after enabling the option, the issue is usually a missing microphone permission for the keyboard app rather than this setting, and that needs to be fixed separately in the app permissions.
